Rain, cold, warm, sun — San Francisco can’t make up its mind, making it extra hard to get dressed in the morning (literally–I think I’ve experienced every one of those temperature changes in less than a week!). I’m so happy I walked out the door with this chunky scarf this morning, as it turned out to be one of the chilliest days of the season so far and, clearly, I walked out sans jacket. Plus, who doesn’t love a cozy scarf + faux fur + coffee combo?

Layers are totally key; lightweight (but warm) sweaters, t-shirts, scarves, hoodies — basically, anything that you can peel off if the sun peeks out and put back on when it goes away. Now I live about 40 miles north of San Francisco, and when I visit the city in winter I’ll wear a trench coat atop a button-down cashmere sweater, a short sleeve shirt and maybe skinny jeans, a scarf and boots.
Oh, great suggestion! I’m just learning to layer right, so this is great, although I still need to find the perfect trench coat to add to my closet. :)
