Down to Basics

You could say that my lack of posting on this blog has partially been due to a little bit of a style slump and overall lack of blogging inspiration I’ve been feeling this year. I started this blog to document my daily personal style and to connect with like-minded women from around the world. Over the years, I have not only done that, but I have also had the opportunity to work with some of my favorite brands and designers.

And as Kitties + Couture approaches it’s fourth birthday next month, I’m left wondering what the future holds for this blog. Would a redesign snap me back into blogging more frequently with excitement? Would a focus on other verticals, such as home decor, travel, or beauty get my creative juices flowing again? Or is it time to bid farewell to this phase of Kitties + Couture and start a new personal project from scratch?

California Winter Classics

California winter

There’s nothing like wearing white during winter, especially when it’s at least 65 degrees out (I love California). I actually got pretty warm walking around in this very light trench coat, but had to keep it on to be able to pull off this classic All-American look. These Prada riding boots are a recent addition to my wardrobe. Secret? They were on sale on Poshmark for $250 (in nearly perfect condition) and I paid $0 out of pocket because I had credit in my account from selling clothes I no longer wear.

PS: I actually got the trench coat, boots, purse, and sunglasses through Poshmark. All at a fraction of the retail price.

PPS: In case you haven’t seen my disclaimer on this blog before, I do work for Poshmark. However, all opinions on this blog are my own. Poshmark does not pay me extra for mentioning them or, sadly, for shopping on the platform.

Classic Jeans

Classic denim

Truth be told, as much as I love (LOVE) denim, finding the right jeans can be a bit of a challenge. I’m on the short side – 5’3″ to be exact – and most jeans are way too long on me. Normally, that would be fine, right? Just take them to a tailor to get them hemmed and problem solved. Well, so wrong. I’m somewhat lazy when it comes to those things, so I just end up cuffing them different ways and call it a day.

After cleaning one of my night dressers out recently, I found a gift card to Paige Denim that I had shockingly forgotten about. And that’s when I found my new favorite jeans. You guys: they’re an amazing fit (no cuffs!), are an amazing color with no distressing, and oh-so-comfortable. They’re made out of a special fabric that stretches, but not to the point of jeggings (bleh!). They still feel and act like regular denim. And there’s more: they guarantee that they won’t stretch out, another one of my pain points when it comes to jeans. So far, so good on this front – I’ve worn them a handful of times and they still fit like they did the first time I slipped into them.

PS: Yes, I get it. I can’t stop wearing this leather jacket. Sorry! It’s just perfect for San Francisco winters.
