Working 9am to 5pm (or more like 9:30/10am to 7:30, 8:30, 10:30pm…) consists of me sitting in front of the computer typing and clicking away. Don’t get me wrong – I love my little computer and the work I do, but it means that I’m inactive for most of my hours during the workweek. And while I try to get myself to workout at least 3 times a week, my long work hours and my 2 hour+ commute every day can, many times, make it impossible for me to have the energy to even think about sweating.

But I’m a Capricorn. That means that we love obsess over setting goals for ourselves and working hard to meet them, whether personal or work-related. That’s why when Garmin reached out to me to try out their new fitness tracker, vívofit 2, I jumped at the opportunity. I’ll tell you why:

  1. The tracker learns your activity level and proposes a personalized daily goal for the number of steps you need to take each day. This is probably what I’ve been utilizing the most, checking to see if I have met my goal or not (and then figuring out ways to meet my daily goal, such as taking breaks to walk outside during the work day or coming home and walking around in my neighborhood).
  2. The tracker reminds you to stay active. This is super helpful in the office, as I can easily get lost with work and let hours go by without getting up from my desk.
  3. They’ve partnered with Jonathan Adler to create a collection of stylish, printed interchangeable bands for the vívofit 2 tracker. I swapped in the blue band so that my tracker would coordinate with the rest of my outfit.

And guess what? They’ve given me an extra vívofit 2 AND a Jonathan Adler Trio Band Pack to give away to one of you this Sunday, May 10th on my Instagram!

Be sure to follow me on Instagram so you don’t miss out.

Spring Favorites from Gap & Alexander Wang

Spring Favorites

Dress: Gap (also available in blue and gray) | Shoes: Alexander Wang | Purse: 3.1 Phillip Lim

I’ve been in the midst of a full closet overhaul over the last few months, which has consisted of freezing my spending and donating/selling bags and bags (over 15 of them!) of clothes and shoes. And while I have been really good about not shopping, I couldn’t help but add a couple of basics last month that I now can’t stop wearing: this over-sized black dress and these white leather flats.

Let’s start with the dress. Yes, it’s shapeless. Yes, I could probably wear it if I were pregnant. But that’s why I’m obsessed (and the fact that it has pockets). I love it so much that I snagged it in gray (on sale!), which should be arriving this week.

These shoes were an impulse buy. I found myself complaining at my lack of spring/summer-appropriate shoes (I kind of overdid it on the boots last season). That was until one day, one of my co-workers showed me these Alexander Wangs on sale for $90 (brand new). Swoon.

Spring Vibes: Lighter Hair & Old Jeans

Sweater: SystemAction, Barcelona | Jeans: Genetic Denim | Shoes: Givenchy | Purse: Leah Lerner, c/o | Watch: GUESS, c/o | Sunglasses: zeroUV, c/o

Spring is here in San Francisco (well, we never really had a winter) and the sunshine inspired me to go just a tad bit lighter with my hair – and, my gosh, I kind of love it. Coloring my hair is still a pretty big deal to me, as the first time I colored it was only 7 months ago, so for someone who has had dark brown hair for almost 30 years, this is quite a change. A huge, huge thank you to my stylist, Brian, at Population Salon for his amazing work. And congrats to them for opening up their second salon in the Mission! Local SF girls and guys, check them out – you won’t be disappointed!

Another thing I love about spring? The fact that I can pull out these jeans again. They’re about four years old and I’m still obsessed with them. It’s probably because they’re so long that I have to wear my highest platforms (5 inches high), causing my legs to look extra long (and leaving my co-workers wondering how I grew so much overnight).

PS: Behind the smile is a girl that got hit with a really, really bad cold/flu/bronchitis (really not sure what it is because I’m kind of bad about seeing a doctor unless I’m extremely, extremely ill). I had to stay home for half the week last week and I’m still coughing up some pretty nasty things a week later. Kind of makes me wonder if I should have gotten the flu shot after all…
